As a big fan of sushi and Japanese cuisine, I’m often disappointed with the lack of choice when it comes to Japanese dining in Bristol.
Which is why NOA, newly opened and situated on Waterloo Street in Clifton is a real find. The restaurant is large and spacious with a fresh and modern ambience whilst still in keeping with an authentic Japanese feel.
NOA has a great selection of dishes on the menu; I was particularly impressed with the range of sushi and sashimi available however for those of you who aren’t a big sushi fan, there is also a great selection of stir fries, curries, rice and noodle dishes – all of which sound wonderfully tasty.
As well as Japanese food, NOA also offer a selection of traditional Japanese beverages to perfectly compliment your meal. From sake to sochu as well as Japanese beers and cocktails, an evening at NOA is sure to provide you with a truly Japanese dining experience.
The food at Noa was fantastic – everything I expect and hope for from a genuine Japanese restaurant. Unlike Chinese, Japanese food is not greasy or heavy but flavoursome, and filling without being overly stodgy. My only qualm was that the service was a little slow when the restaurant was nowhere near capacity.
Verdict: Its places like Noa which really blow supermarket sushi and places like YO! out of the water when it comes to Japanese cuisine – definitely worth a visit and highly recommended by this happy foodie!
