Whist Underground Dining is by no means a recent trend, outside of London and the Home Counties secret restaurants tend to be pretty few and far between.
I’ve been keeping my eyes out for some in Bristol and, after searching far and wide I’ve stumbled upon Supper Club Fan Group a fantastic resource for those considering underground dining (either hosting an evening or finding one!)
It was actually through the Supper Fan Group that I’ve discovered what should be a wonderful event, a Pop Up Sunday High Tea to be held on 14th March 2010 by Bristol Vintage. I’ve managed to book tickets (although hurry if you’re keen as there are only 40 and they’re selling fast).
The high tea is due to be held at the scout hut in Redcliffe and with glamorous vintage crockery, an unlimited supply of tea and what sounds like your own body weight in cake this is sure to be a fantastic afternoon.
Another underground restaurateur on the radar and a supper club I’m really keen to become a member of is Bristol’s Secret Supper Club offering gourmet dinners prepared by a Cordon Bleu trained chef.
With tea parties and supperclubs popping up more and more frequently, it certainly seems that at long last Underground Dining is a trend which is starting to take off in Bristol, and as far as I’m concerned… not a moment too soon!
