Wandering down Stokes Croft in the sunshine, we were deliberating which place to try and stumbled across Tree House Cafe an organic and health food cafe which opened earlier this year.
The decor is fun in a Swiss Family Robinson sort of a way, a big wooden sign out front, simple, wooden tables and chairs inside with trees and leaves painted onto the wall. The menu is unfancy but full of wholesome food, organic and locally produced where possible.
I opted for ones of the specials, the spicy potato hash served with salad. The portion was good and the potatoes really tasty. They came served with cous cous, houmous and salad. It was uncomplicated, but really tasty.
We also ordered a sandwich, there was a variety of fillings and you could mix and match your own, a nice touch although I think I would have preferred pre-determined fillings as I invariably ending up panicking and choosing a bizarre combo which doesn’t quite work. Nonetheless, the ingredients were good and it tasted pretty good.
The menu also includes breakfasts as well as other salads and lunchtime items with plans to expand the menu further to include persian cuisine (yum!)
A fairly short and simple review this time which I hope sums up the good-honest and simple fare served by those lovely people at Tree House. Well worth a visit, I’m looking forward to exploring more of their menu soon.
