A fairly old fashioned / traditional pub on the inside (dark wood furniture, some characteristic wall hangings and old pictures) with a Thai kitchen. Granted The Old Fish Market is a fairly odd concept albeit one which, in my opinion works.
The food is simple, not necessarily the food you’d find in a Thai restaurant but there are some classics such as Thai green curry and pad prik king pork. Prices are reasonable but the express lunch menu and early evening dining menu are excellent value and really affordable.
Servings are generous – you get a lot of bang for your buck here, the bowls of soup are arguably big enough to swim in and incredibly tasty – highly recommended, you will not leave here feeling hungry! The food is delicately spiced, nothing too extreme and well flavoured – everything you expect from decent Thai cuisine, tasty, packed with flavour and fresh.
I’m not pretending that The Old Fish Market will blow your socks off, I’m not sure I’d recommend it for anyone looking for a “nice meal out” But as a pub serving food with a difference it certainly has my vote. If you are looking for a few drinks out with friends and a casual bite to then it won’t disappoint.
