The Alma Tavern

It’s funny how as regular food bloggers one of the pubs that Becci and I eat at most frequently has managed to escape review for so long.
Due to a rather legendary Monday night pub quiz, we as sixsome have been heading down the the Alma week in week out for some intellectual humiliation for some two years or so.
The thing I link most about the Alma is the fact that their food has been consistently good. The alma burger is always a winner with our group, beautifully rare served with chutney and crispy French fries. The Alma definitely goes a step further when it comes to traditional pub grub.
It’s not unusual to see fish on the menu, lamb tagine, risotto, curry, steak or pie. generally speaking they tend to strike the balance just right, offering traditional pub food and a slightly more refined dining experience. I’ve certainly had no qualms about bringing visiting guests to the Alma for a nice but casual meal out.
All in all I think burgers and cheeseboards are their main forte but this is a friendly and welcoming pub with great food so well worth a visit of you’re in the area. I think our two years of custom is testament to the quality.
