Thai Edge review: Modern, stylish and tasty

Updated October 2013: I’ve eaten at Thai Edge a few times since this review and have been impressed after every visit. Food and service is un-fussy but good. A great location for lunch with workmates or for dinner in the evening.

With an exceptionally girly evening planned (tickets to go see Flawless at the Hippodrome!) and not much time to spare before the show started, I wasn’t entirely sure of where to go for a quick bite to eat however having walked past Thai edge on a number of occasions I decided to go for it!

This is a restaurant which not only looks very modern from the outside but also very modern from the inside. The restaurant itself is spotless, very light with crisp white tablecloths and purple undertones throughout – giving a very modern feel. Service was spot on, polite and attentive without being overbearing and the waiters were only too happy to make recommendations.

With a pre theatre menu at just £9.99 for two courses and a bottle of house wine for just under £12 we found Thai Edge was great value for money and the food was brilliant too – lots of vegetarian options as well as chicken, fish and pork.

We had spring rolls and chicken satay to start. My main was sweet and sour pork with cucumber – I was impressed by how much flavour the vegetables had, tasting really fresh, not at all like the stodgy and rather bland dishes you get in so many places. My friends had singapore fried noodles and chicken with basil – I think the clean plates spoke for themselves in terms of how much they were enjoyed.

It was the attention to detail which really impressed me here; immaculate tables, free prawn crackers on every table, purple napkins to match the décor, a bar which looked great for cocktails as well as appropriate for a restaurant. We found Thai Edge was great for a quick bite for three but I got the impression that it would also be a great venue for a larger group or perhaps a work party – highly recommended and a definite venue for future girly meals out.

Verdict: Good food and service in a nice atmosphere. A great location for pre theatre dinners or a quick bite to start the evening.
