We’re immensely proud of Bristol’s thriving cocktail scene. We’re proud to be the home of some of the country’s best mixologists who have won regional and national competitions far and wide.

Which is why Bristol Foodie are proud to announce our partnership with 2013’s Bristol Cocktail Week. A week dedicated to showcasing and celebrating the bartending talent which resides in Bristol.

Bristol cocktail week will take place from 30th September to 6th October 2013 and will feature competitions, tournaments and tastings culminating in a lavish awards ceremony. The week includes combines bartender-only events in the day with an eclectic mix of spirit-themed events open to the general public each evening – something for everyone.

In addition to the official events, bars across Bristol will be putting on special “cocktails of the week” to celebrate the event.

More details to follow but here’s a sneak peek of what you can expect…

Monday 30 September: Bartender Cocktail Cup

  • What: Four rounds, four brands, four bars. Contenders will move from bar to bar as they create cocktails using Flor de Cana rum, Beefeater gin, Speciality tequilas and and Maxium bourbon. The pressure will be on as we say goodbye to contenders at the end of each heat to find out who will be crowned Bristol’s champion.
  • Where: Round 1: Milk Thistle, Round 2: Redlight, Round 3: Goldbrick House, Round 4: Hyde & Co
  • When: 1pm start for bartenders. 8pm start for general public
  • Who: Preliminary rounds are bartenders only but the grand final is open to members of the public from 8pm at Hyde & Co
  • How much: Free!

Tuesday 01 October: Scotch: Scotch tasting & Malt meanders (2 events)

Scotch tasting for bartenders

  • What: Colin Dunn teaches Bristol’s bartenders the nuances and complexities of flavours for scotch and the exciting ways these can be brought to life in cocktails.
  • Where: Milk Thistle
  • When: 2pm
  • Who: Bartenders only
  • How much: Free
  • Booking: Just turn up

Malt Meanders

  • What: 5 bars, 5 single malts. Colin Dunn from Diageo takes us on a journey of scotch exploring and tasting five different single malts from bar to bar.
  • Where: Milk Thistle, Redlight, Goldbrick House, Papajis, Hausbar
  • When: Starts at 7pm at Milk Thistle
  • Who: General Public. Taste and discover new and different scotch whisky’s from Diageo’s premium range.
  • How much: £25.00

Wednesday 02 October: Tequila: Bartender Brunch & Tequila ‘n’ Tacos (2 events)

Bartender Brunch

  • What: A networking brunch for Bristol’s bartenders
  • Where: Hermanos
  • When: 12-3pm
  • Who: Bartenders
  • How much: Free entry. £4 to cover food & drink
  • Booking: Just turn up

Tequila ‘n’ Tacos

  • What: Enjoy mexican food and verditas at the mexican themed tequila ‘n’ tacos evening at Hermanos.
  • Where: Hermanos
  • When: 7pm onwards
  • Who: General public. One for everyone to enjoy – arriba!
  • How much: Free entry. Mexican food short menu all @£5. Tequila drinks short list all @£5

Thursday 03 October: Bourbon: Bourbon, Blues and BBQ’s

  • What: Award-winning bartender James Bridges brings some of the American deep south to Bristol with live music, BBQ food and bourbon cocktails.

Friday 04 October: Vodka: Stolichnaya tasting & Drinking with the Tzar (2 events)

Stolichnaya tasting

  • What: Stolichnaya tasting with Stolichnaya UK Brand Ambassador, Matthew Dakers
  • Where: Amoeba

  • Who: Bartenders
  • How much: Free

Drinking with the Tzar

  • What: Canapés and cocktails with a turn of the century Russian bent
  • Where: Mauretania, Bristol

  • Who: General public – one for everyone!
