For the last few weeks Atomic Burger seems to have dominated our twitter and Facebook feeds. With so much hype we thought it worth we give them a try and we were overjoyed when they invited us in for burgers on the house.

Stepping inside, Atomic Burger is like the bedroom you WANTED to have as a kid but weren’t allowed due to the craziness. Think Super Mario wallpaper and ghost busters sprayed on the walls, marvel comic flooring and barbie wallpaper in the toilets. combine this with an eclectic selection of toys hanging everywhere! Atomic Burger is all about the nostalgic fun.

It doesn’t stop with the decor, the menu is a full blown sticker book with blasts from the past, lucky charms on the breakfast menu, popping space dust on the milkshakes and even cream soda!

There are more than 20 burger fillings to choose from, a mish mash of pop culture and culinary puns, toppings from as Dolly Parton, and Messy Jessie to the Jon y Cash and Dead Elvis. Each combination is available in beef, chicken or veggie and buns come with the option of gluten free.

Fillings range from refried beans and hot sauce, to meatballs, to blue cheese and bacon and generous they are too. The menu is packed and some could say overwhelming, but fun to read through and there is definitely something for everyone!

Burgers when they arrived were large in size, and meaty. Cooked rare (the best way), with lots of flavour. Burgers come with a side order each, we had sci fries (spicy) and onion rings. The onion rings were good, albeit slightly on the greasy side, and the fries skinny but tasty.

For dessert we had milkshakes (peanut butter and chocolate), these tasted great, thick and gloopy served with curly straws and the popping space dust was a nice touch (until some popped into Becci’s eye!).

Overall the portions were huge, the food tasty and it was good value for money. A fun place, good for casual dining and great to go with children/boyfriends! Next time you want to release your inner 9 year old, you know where to go.
